Mrs. Betty Lou Emily Hopkins

October 2, 1930 — March 28, 2017

Hopkins, Betty Lou Emily, (nee. Laux) age 86, of Waterford, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, March 29, 2017 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. She was born in Milwaukee, WI on October 2, 1930, the daughter of the late Harold and Lenora (nee. Meyer) Laux. She was a graduate of Waterford Union High School. On September 11, 1954 she married John Hopkins who has preceded her in death. Betty Lou was a jack of all trades, working right up until the very end. She had an endless work ethic, whether it was at Albee’s Restaurant - Waterford, The Coral Reef - Rochester, driving a bus, or working her most recent and favorite job at Adrian’s Custard - Burlington for 20+ years. She was known as the Custard Celebrity and Burlington Icon. She had the ability to make people smile and feel good about life. Betty Lou was the true meaning of superb customer service wherever she worked. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening and jigsaw puzzles. Her greatest joy was spending quality time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her family, close friend Darlene Adrian and many friends.

Betty Lou is survived by her children: Sharon (Richard) Schroeder of Eldorado, WI; Charles Hopkins of Milwaukee; Charlene Krukowski of Waterford; Colleen (Sonny) Van Hara of Racine; grandchildren: Joseph and Christopher Schroeder, Sarah Hopkins, Danielle (Matt) Weber, Deanna (Fred) Trevino and John Van Hara; great-grandchildren: Emma, "One on the way, yay! Harper", Morgan, Paityn, Lane, Aaliyah, Isabella, Ariel, Kaylee, Tahlia and Piper. She is also survived by four brothers: Harry Laux, Dick (Darlene) Laux, George (Phyllis) Laux and Denny (Joyce) Laux; other relatives and countless friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband John, sister Donna, and grandson Randy.

Visitation will be held on Sunday April 2, 2017 from 2:00-3:45 PM in the Funeral Home with services beginning at 4:00 PM. A private family burial will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Racine. In lieu of floral expressions of sympathy, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

Her family wishes to thank the Doctors, Nurses, and Staff, especially Jaclyn at Waukesha Memorial Hospital I.C.U., for their wonderful care and support of our dear Mother, Grandmother, and Great-grandma Betty Lou.
