Carol J Greil

Greil, Carol Jean, age 85, passed away at Our Lady of Peace Hospice in St. Paul, MN on September 12, 2016. She was born in Waterford, Wisconsin on August 17, 1931, the daughter of Carl and Ethel (nee. Beardsley) Hoppe. She attended Carroll College and subsequently earned a teaching certificate from the Racine-Kenosha Teacher’s College. On June 6, 1953 she married her high school sweetheart, John C. Greil, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Waterford. Mother of 5 children, she lived on their farm in the town of Norway. Carol was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and a Norway 4-H leader. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling and all types of needlework. Carol looked forward to the Racine County Fair each year and to Santa and Mrs. Claus visiting the farmhouse on Christmas Eve.

Carol is survived by her Children: Sandra Greil (friend Willis Lenz), Daniel (Julia) Greil, Steven (Sandra) Greil, Beth (Robert) Letto; Grandchildren: Dominick (Janna) Busch, Benjamin (Lauren) Busch, Joshua Greil, Erica Greil, John (Lauren) Greil, Anna Letto, and David Letto; Great-Grandchildren: Damien, Gabriel, Nola and Beau; Brothers: Jim (Marge) Hoppe and Jerry Hoppe.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: John and son: John David.

All are welcome to a Celebration of Carol’s Life on Friday, September 30, 2016, from 5 until 8 PM at the Cotton Exchange, 345 Hickory Hollow Rd, Waterford. Please join us to visit and share memories of Carol.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2016, from 9:00 to 10:45 AM, with Mass beginning at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 305 S. First Street, Waterford, Wisconsin, 53185. Inurnment in the church cemetery following Mass.

In lieu of floral expressions of sympathy, the family would appreciate memorials to the “Greil Family” to be distributed according to Carol’s wishes, Racine County Ag. Society and Our Lady of Peace Hospice House.
