Caroline Margaret Bain

October 14, 1929 — February 25, 2015

The Bain Family wishes to let you know that on February 25, 2015 Rev. Caroline M. Bain passed into God’s hands.

For the past several years, Caroline has been living with Dementia and while she tried her best to keep that from her family and friends, the progression of this disease caused her children to find supportive, assistive, and eventually memory care facilities to accommodate the slow deterioration of her brain. Caroline suffered a stroke on the evening of February 14th and finally succumbed on Wednesday.

Our mother worked tirelessly to be God’s hands and heart in the world as a member of the Episcopal clergy. This was truly a calling and an occupation that she loved. This role took her too many parts of the country including: Illinois, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Iowa, and Michigan. She was very proud of her accomplishments especially by helping to break the gender barrier of ordained clergy. Mother retired after moving back to Illinois and eventually made Wisconsin her home.

Among her belongings were numerous cards and letters that she received and may have tried to respond to, but due to her condition, was unable to reply as she would have wished. Our family is comforted by knowing that she was able to be a support to her parishioners and friends. Thank you for sharing your gifts and concerns with her.

Caroline was also very proud of her family. Children: Cindy and Tom, Cathy and Paul, George (deceased) Gaynelle, and Bill; her grandchildren: Jackie and Aaron, Laurie and Clint, Liz and Heart, James, JJ, Carrie, Jessie, and Lawson. And, she was very fond of her great-grandchild, Rowan.

Mealy Funeral Home in Waterford, WI will handle cremation arrangements for Caroline. There will be more information and a place to leave notes on their website: www.mealyfuneralhome.com .

There will be a memorial service at St. Simon’s Episcopal Church, 717 W. Kirchhoff Rd., Arlington Heights, IL on March 7th at 1:00PM. The phone number of the Church is 847.259.2930.

We thank you for being a part of our mother’s life and for your efforts to stay in contact with her via your cards, gifts, and kind thoughts.

Fondly, Cindy, Cathy, and Bill
