Mrs. Helen Johanna McNett
September 19, 1953 — February 10, 2017
McNett, Helen J. (nee. Gharrity) age 63, passed away in her home in Waterford, WI on February 10, 2017 after a yearlong battle with cancer.
Helen was born on September 19, 1953 in Beloit, WI to John and Helen Gharrity. She graduated from Beloit Catholic High School in 1972. On May 7, 1977 she married her beloved husband, Gary McNett. After moving to Pleasant Prairie, WI, Helen began working for the Harley Davidson Motor Company, where she worked as an Information Technology Specialist until her retirement in 2013. Her family and friends remember Helen for her fighting spirit and pursuit of good times.
Helen was an accomplished photographer, avid fisherman and passionate sports fan who enjoyed long Harley rides with her husband. It was on her pier on the Fox River, with fishing pole and camera in hand, that she was happiest.
Helen is survived by her husband Gary of Waterford, son Gharrity and his partner Karin and their daughter Evelyn of Los Angeles, CA; brothers: Dennis Gharrity of Daly City, CA and Tim Gharrity of Rockford, IL; sisters: Mary Maki of Janesville, WI and Bridget Gharrity of Phoenix, AZ.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers: Pat and Mike.
A Memorial Gathering and visitation will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017 from 11 AM - 1 PM at Mealy Funeral Home, 225 West Main St., Waterford, WI 53185. The service will end with a short eulogy presented by the family. Following the visitation, an Irish Wake with food and drinks will be held at Doc’s on the Fox Waterfront Bar & Grill, 232 N. Milwaukee St., Waterford, WI 53185.
In lieu of floral expressions of sympathy, memorial donations in Helen's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society .
