Fischbach, Richard J., “Dick”, 70, of Rochester, passed away at Burlington Memorial Hospital on January 13, 2013. He was born in Chicago, IL and went to Burlington High School. He has resided in Rochester since 1970. In his early days he was a bill poster and a truck driver. In 1970 he and his wife Colleen (nee. Rayner) went into business with his parents, John and Catherine Fischbach and established what was known as Big John’s Village Inn in Rochester. Dick was also a member of the Rochester Volunteer Fire Department and Past President of the Waterford Lions Club. He was an avid golfer and bowler prior to retirement. He enjoyed reading and watching the Milwaukee Brewers as well as the Green Bay Packers. He also enjoyed taking naps in his chair with the family dog, Peanut. Those who knew him will remember him for his sense of humor, quick wit and a man who would always tell you a joke. He is survived by his wife of 49 years: Colleen and 5 children: Susan Tuma of Waterford, Bruce (Maribeth) Fischbach of Olathe, KS; Helen(Tom) Miller of Genoa City, WI; Donna Schmidt (Neil Lesniak) of Waterford, WI and David (Julie) Fischbach of Rochester, WI. He is also survived by brothers: Robert (Mary) Fischbach of Gladstone, MI; Tom (Diane) Fischbach of Woodstock,IL; Walter Fischbach of Rochester, WI; half-brother: John(Steve Rosenberg) Fischbach of Palm Springs, CA; sisters-in-law: Karen Fischbach of Mauston,WI and Diane Fischbach of Chicago, IL. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Catherine Fischbach and 3 brothers: William, James and Raymond. A Memorial Gathering with family and friends will take place on Friday, January 18, 2013 from 3:00 -5:15 PM in the funeral home. A Memorial Service will begin at 5:30 PM with Deacon Jim Nichols officiating. In lieu of floral expressions of sympathy, memorials are suggested to the family.
