Mr. Robert Kenneth Clements "Mickey"
August 18, 1930 — June 20, 2018
Clements, Robert K. “Mickey”, age 87, died comfortably and peacefully on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in Union Grove, Wisconsin.
Mickey spent most of his life in Waterford, Wisconsin, growing up in a one-room shack on Loland Drive just off Hwy 83, with his parents Robert K. and Selma Carolina (nee. Knutson) Clements. He graduated from Waterford High School in 1948. Less than a year later, as a star pitcher for Mukwonago in the Wisconsin Land O’ Lakes League, Mickey was invited to join the Brooklyn Dodgers minor league team in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Mick served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a 30+ year employee of the Pabst Brewing Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
In 1963 he and his future wife, Georgia Jayne Schultz, welcomed a son, Anthony (Tony) R. Clements. They built a new house on Loland Drive and lived there for the next 20 years, along with Jayne’s two sons from a previous marriage - Charles D. Goff and Michael E. Goff. "Mick and Jayne’s" was the “party” house for many years, especially for Tony’s Waterford Union High School class of 1981. The house was full of friends and laughter and plenty of PBR.
Sometime in the 1980’s, Mickey bought two old metal lunchboxes as gifts for a couple of neighbor kids. The kids never picked up their gifts, so Mick kept the lunchboxes. Then he found a couple more lunchboxes at a local rummage sale. Then a couple more at a flea market. Friends started giving Mick lunchboxes. Over the years, his collection grew to include over 1,000 boxes and friends would remark on his “museum” of lunchboxes, first displayed in his basement and then in his room at Gates Hall in the VA Home.
He was a proud sponsor/founder of the Waterford Rivermen Baseball Team (Land O’ Lakes League) and a loyal fan of the Milwaukee Brewers, the Green Bay Packers, and in fact, every hometown team from the Wisconsin Badgers to the Marquette Golden Eagles to the Waterford Wolverines.
Mickey was also a huge fan of popular music, from the sweet bands of the 40’s, to Rock and Roll in the 50’s, to the Beatles in the 60’s, to Queen in the 70’s. He also loved theatre and “show-biz,” and in 2015 was able to see “Mamma Mia!” on Broadway and was greeted by the cast on stage at the Broadhurst Theatre after the show.
Mickey is survived by his son Tony and Tony’s partner Rob Hancock, step-sons Mike (Linda) Goff and Chuck (Jody) Goff and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as many, many dear friends and neighbors who were there for him over the years, including his close friends Joe Huelskamp and Sam Winker. He is also thankful for the great folks at the Wisconsin Veterans Home who not only took care of him for the last year but became dear friends. “Thank you, Dear."

His gravestone at the Caldwell Cemetery includes his hope for all his friends and family: “Let It Be”.
Later this summer, Mick will be throwing a party at the Cotton Exchange in Waterford. He’d like his friends to come eat and drink, listen to music, tell stories, and enjoy each other.
