Mrs. Carol Ada Landry

March 8, 1924 — May 21, 2016

Carol Ada Landry (nee Bruce) passed into eternity on Saturday, May 21st, 2016 at the age of 92. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bernard Landry, June 10, 1997, brother Douglas Bruce and grandson Glen Franklin. Carol is survived by her sister Edith Landry, and six children: Cheryl Johnson (Larry) of San Antonio, TX; Barbara Gauger (Dennis) of Eagle River, WI; Robert Landry Jr. (Donna) of Greenfield, WI; Marilyn Franklin (Darrell) of Billings, MT; Cindy Gauger (Donn) of Rhinelander, WI; and Michele Sorenson (Keith) of Princeton, WI.

Carol was the loving grandmother of twelve grandchildren: Michele Baty, Donna Hinze, Diahnn Halbach, Deborah Stouffer, Kelly Kazik, Erin Alf, Steven Wowzynski, Ryan Landry, Heather Gessner, Kathryn Schenck, and Holly Sorenson. She was twice blessed with sixteen great-grandchildren: Joseph Cannon, Zachery Hinze, Bradley Hinze, Jessica Halbach, Jeremy Stouffer, Brock Halbach, Kelsey Stouffer, Anthony Landry, Andromeda Schenck, Mya Wowzynski, Madeline Franklin, Kaylee Wowzynski, Remiel Schenck, Griffin Alf, Alexa Wowzynski, and Bailey Schmitz. There are also two great-great grandsons: Dominic Hinze and Liam Hinze. Liam came into the world one day before Carol passed.

Carol was a friend to just about everyone she ever met. Her good nature and sense of humor and her spunkiness made her special. After retirement, Carol and her husband moved to Waterford, WI on the Fox River and spent a great deal of time entertaining family gatherings and on the river with Dad powering the pontoon. She was active at Norway Lutheran Church while living there, and she loved cutting quilt squares weekly for the Norway Quilters and continued to be active after moving to Norway Shores after the death of her husband. While there, she was the “glue” in keeping activities going, including card and board games and weekly bingo and pot lucks. It was in 2015 that her health declined and she was moved to the Rennes Health and Rehab Center in Rhinelander, WI. She loved living at Rennes, making many friends there, and being cared for by the “Angels” who masqueraded as staff. While there, she attended Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, in Eagle River where she enjoyed meeting new friends.

There will be a visitation at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Eagle River, for her “Northwoods” friends, on June 1st beginning at 5:30 p.m., a Celebration of Life service at 6:00 p.m. with an Ice Cream Social in honor of Carol’s favorite dessert, to follow.

On June 10, 2016 there will be a Celebration of Life service at Norway Lutheran Church – 6321 Heg Park Rd., Wind Lake, WI 53185, Visitation at 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. with services beginning at 6:00 p.m., also followed by an Ice Cream Social.

In lieu of floral expressions of sympathy, Carol has requested that donations may be made to the Norway Quilters or the American Cancer Society.
