Mrs. Claudia Lynn Harris

May 25, 1947 — October 11, 2017

Harris, Claudia Lynn, age 70, of Waterford, went to meet her Lord and Savior on Wednesday October 11, 2017 with her loving family by her side after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Claudia was born in Traverse City, Michigan on May 25, 1947, the daughter of Vernon ”Buck” and Vada Jewell. After graduating high school she attended cosmetology school and on June 5, 1971 she married Philip H. Harris in Traverse City. The couple lived in Racine and Minneapolis before settling in Waterford where they have resided for the past 40 years. Claudia was a true Christian woman, always following her faith and teaching her family and friends how to follow that same path. She was a giver and was touching hearts with everyone she met. Her love of horses since the age of 9 years has carried with her until her last ride just 6 short weeks ago. Claudia enjoyed trail rides with her friends and camping with the horses. For over 60 years she has enjoyed this cherished hobby. Every year the group of special friends would travel with the horses in spring and fall to a state park or ranch for a week of riding adventure, comradery, campfires and fun. They'd begin planning the next year's trips at a Christmas time party and work out all the details over a table full of delicious potluck snacks and lively conversation, catching up on everyone's equine news. She had the kindest heart, the warmest smile and the most sincere and caring way about her. She was an inspiration to all. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Claudia is survived by her loving husband Phil, three children: Alex of Kearneysville, W.VA, Melissa of Los Angeles, CA, and Danielle of Waterford; grandchildren: Tim, Justin, Taylor and Cole; great-grandson: Gabriel; her mother: Vada Jewell of Traverse City, MI; sisters-in-law: Cindy Hopkins, Libby (Hal) Brost and Barbara Jewell; further survived by mother-in-law: Nancy Harris; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and countless friends.

She is preceded in death by her father: “Buck”, brother: Brent, daughter-in-law: Tina and father-in-law: Robert Harris.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 from 3-6 PM at Community United Methodist Church, 455 South Jefferson Street, Waterford, WI 53185. Services will begin at 6:30 PM in the Church. A luncheon will follow services.

In Lieu of floral expressions of sympathy, her family suggests memorials be made to: Cancer Fighters of Cancer Treatment Centers of America. Checks should be payable to “Phil Harris” for distribution to the cancer group where Claudia was one of the founding members and proudly sat on the board of directors for five years.

Family thanks the doctor's and staff at St. Luke’s Hospital I.C.U. in Milwaukee and the many friends that showed support for Claudia and our family over many years.
