Ford, Gerald F. affectionately known as “Papa” or “Prez”, age 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday June 17, 2021 in Burlington, Wisconsin.
Jerry was loved and cherished by his 6 children and the proud Papa to 10 loving granddaughters and 2 great-grandsons.
Jerry was born to the late Patrick and Alice (Falconer) Ford on April 5, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan. A few years of his childhood were spent growing up in Scotland. He was a 1951 graduate of St. Theresa’s High School in Detroit. Jerry then joined the United States Air Force, stationed in Montana and Greenland. After being honorably discharged by the USAF in 1955, Jerry met his beloved wife, Patricia (Patty) Clemons; they were married in December 1956. He retired from the United States Postal Service and worked previously as a licensed insurance agent. Jerry also spent many of his years serving his community by volunteering for the Big Bend/Vernon Lions Club.
Jerry is survived by his children, Karen, Mary Kathleen (Robert), Patrick (Horace), Christopher (Sue), Michael, Dierdre (Joseph); granddaughters, Sara Malone, Jessica (Nathan) Sheeks, Christina Malone, Alaina Ford, Stefani (Cameron) Magnowski, Katie (Brendan) Carrao, Alison (Collin) Crim, Kaylie Gannon, Dori Jensen, and Danielle Jensen; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Marek and Baby Crim; his sister, Marie Plumer and his brother Richard Ford; and by nieces, nephews, cousins, and a lifetime of close friends.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents Patrick and Alice Ford; his beloved wife of 54 years, Patty, son-in-law Mark Gannon, brother Charles (Chuck) Ford, and brother-in-law Richard Plumer.
Jerry will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who knew and cared about him.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
At Jerry’s request, donations may be made to your local Lions Club, the National Honor Flight Network or your local watering hole.
