Gilbert "Bud" Fries

Fries, Gilbert “Bud” 87 passed away peacefully November 21, 2006 at Boland Hall Wisconsin Veteran’s Home in Union Grove, of Progressive Supra-nuclear Palsy. Bud was born April 18, 1919 at home in the Town of Norway to Gabriel & Ragna (nee. Krogstad) Fries. He proudly served in the United States Army (World War II) for four years, some of which was in the European Theater. He was a truck driver in Milwaukee and was retired. He also worked as a custodian in the Muskego-Norway Schools. He enjoyed his home on Waubeesee Lake, working in his yard, riding his bike many miles daily, and his winter vacations in Florida and in recent years at Kailua-Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. Loving Husband of 51 years to, Norma, Beloved father of Jean (Phil) Jacobson, Wind Lake, Nancy (David) Laughran: Rochester. Cherished grandfather of Michael and Shannon Laughran, Jennifer (Brian) Diener, and great-grandaughter Taylor Diener. He is also survived by his sister Anna Marie Binning, Merrill, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, one sister-in-law, one brother-in-law, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Alf (Bill) and Gabriel (Junior) Fries and son John Jacobs. The family thanks the entire staff at Boland Hall, Wisconsin Veterans Home Union Grove for the loving compassionate care given to Bud and his family. Services will be held at Norway Lutheran Church 6321 Heg Park Road Wind Lake, on Saturday November 25th at 12:00 Noon with Reverend James Rasmus officiating. Visitation in CHURCH 10-12 P.M Saturday. Burial will follow at Norway Hill Cemetery with Military Honors. Memorials are suggested to Norway Evangelical Lutheran Church air conditioning fund.
