Schneider, James C. “Jim”, Age 88, of Waterford, passed away August 7, 2011 at his home. He was born on his parent’s farm in the Town of Dover, near English Settlement, the son of the late Peter and Marie (Johnson) Schneider. On May 11, 1946 he married Gladys Roberts in the Community United Methodist Church of Waterford Parsonage. She preceded him in death on August 27, 2006. Jim worked for the Racine County Highway Department from May of 1947 until his retirement in May of 1985. He was the foreman of the west end highway maintenance crew in Rochester. Jim was a long time member of Community United Methodist Church in Waterford. He enjoyed fishing, collecting and repairing guns, and was a current member of the National Rifle Association. He proudly served his country in the Army from 1941 – 1945 and was a current member of the American Legion Essman-Schroeder Post 20 of Waterford. His two children survive him: John P. (Betty) Schneider of Georgia and Deborah A. (Tom Mendicino) Leppien of Waterford, along with two grandchildren: Alanna P. (Fiancé Tony Nellessen) Schneider and Dillon Schneider. Special family members: Linda Vilimek of Illinois and Randy Leppien of Racine and his beloved dog Zack further survive Jim, also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his Parents, wife Gladys and son: James F. Schneider. Services will be held Friday, August 12, 2011 at 3:00 PM in the funeral home with Reverend Lawrence Williams officiating. Visitation in the funeral home on Friday from 1-2:45 PM. Burial with military honors will take place following services at Rosewood Cemetery in the Town of Dover. In lieu of floral expressions of sympathy, memorials are suggested to Community United Methodist Church.
