Mrs. Mary T. Stammers

Stammers, Mary Theresa (nee. McClaire), age 80, of Burlington, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on June 26, 2015. Mary was born to Arthur and Theresa (nee. Rein) McClaire on March 9, 1935 in Glidden, WI. After graduating high school she enlisted in the Marine Corp, from where she was honorably discharged. She met James L. Stammers in Glidden, WI and they were married on January 26, 1957. Mary and Jim had six children and following James military service they settled in Burlington, WI where they resided for 44 years. Mary was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Waterford. She was an avid reader and loved to travel, especially to Copper Harbor, MI. She also liked to go camping. Most of all she loved her family and grandchildren.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Wednesday July 1, 2015 from 10-11 AM at St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 305 S. First St., Waterford, WI, with Mass starting at 11 AM. Inurnment will take place privately at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.
Mary’s family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at Pine Brooke Point Care Facility in Burlington, Seasons Hospice and everyone else who helped to make Mary comfortable.
