Mr. Orville William Fred Peters

October 3, 1927 — May 4, 2015

Peters, Orville W., age 87 of the Town of Rochester, WI. Orville's journey on earth ended on May 4, 2015 and he is now at home with Jesus, his Savior. He was born to William H. and Louise C. Peters on October 3, 1927. Orville had a passion for farming and took great pride in his dairy herd. He loved having a garden, experimenting with new plant varieties and planting numerous trees over the course of his lifetime. His life centered around raising his children and being an active member of Norway Lutheran Church. Orville served on the church council, was a Sunday school teacher and a Deacon for a number of years and enjoyed playing dart-ball. Orville also loved singing in the church choir with his wife for over 30 years.
He will be remembered for how much he loved his children, always making time to teach them and help them appreciate the simple things in life, like stargazing and watching a storm roll in. On rainy days, Ruth would pack a lunch and the family would take a drive to '"find the sun", and many times would find themselves at Terry Andrae and Kohler State Parks. Orville had a gift of writing poetry, which always reflected his love of God, the antics of his children, his appreciation for the beauty of God's creations and his passion for farming.
He served the community as a 4-H Leader with the Explorer group pointing out the wildflowers and all the varieties of trees in the 35 acres of woodland. He also delivered meals on wheels for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth (nee. Eckel) after 55 years of marriage. Orville was the beloved father of Carolynn Peters, John (Judy nee. Zellner) Peters, Barbara (Gregory) Brodsack, Maggie (John) Larson and Russell Peters. He was also loved and cherished by eight grandchildren: Jacob, Sarah, Alexander Peters of CA; David, Christopher and Kevin Brodsack of CO; Jason Larson of CA; Heather (nee. Larson) Martindale of ID. He is also survived by his sister: Catherine Birkett; sister-in-law: Dorothy Knurr; brother-in-law: Henry (Carole) Eckel and sister-in-law: Katherine Wendt and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2015 from 3:45 to 4:45 PM at Norway Lutheran Church, 6321 Heg Park Road, Wind Lake, WI 53185, with the Funeral Service beginning at 5:00 PM. Burial and supper will follow.
The family wishes to thank the Aurora Hospice team for their compassionate and dignified care in his final days. In lieu of floral expressions of sympathy, the family wishes memorials be directed to the Norway Lutheran Church “Helping Hands” Food Pantry or Lutherdale Bible Camp in Elkhorn, WI.
