Mrs. Virginia Simonsen

March 12, 1921 — January 30, 2010

Simonsen, Virginia M. (nee. Roos) age 88, of Wind Lake, passed away January 23, 2010. She was born in Superior, WI, March 12, 1921, daughter of the late Oscar and Anna (nee. Moe) Roos. She spent her early life in Gordon, WI, where she graduated high school. Virginia married Harold Raymond Simonsen on Nov. 11, 1944 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Solon Springs, WI. He preceded her in death on October 5, 2002. The couple lived in California for a short time while Harold proudly served in the military. They returned to WI and settled in Wind Lake in the 1950’s. Virginia was a cook for many years at Lakeview School. They retired in 1976, returning to their roots to summer in Solon Springs and spent winters in Texas. In 1996 they moved back to Wind Lake. Virginia was a member of Norway Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary in Wind Lake. Her family will always remember her as one of the most optimistic person’s ever! She will be greatly missed by her dear family and friends. Survived by four sons: Gary of Wyoming, MN; Larry of Wind Lake; Richard (Sue) of Nairobi, Kenya; Russell (Linda) of Westerville, OH; one daughter: Linda (Paul) Schultz of Wind Lake. Eighteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, with three on the way; one sister: Vi Klinzeing of Wind Lake, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold, sister: Darlene (Robert) Chemelecki and brother: Dick Roos. Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at Norway Lutheran Church, 6321 Heg Park Road, Wind Lake, WI. Inurnment will take place along side of her husband Harold at a later date in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery, Union Grove. Family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of VNA Hospice of Lake Geneva for their special care of Mom, and would like to send a SPECIAL THANKS to Mom’s sister VI for her help and care in these final days.
