BOULDER JUNCTION – Walter L. “Wally” Hegeman, 86, of Boulder Junction, passed away peacefully in his sleep at Park Falls Nursing Home. Born Sept. 10, 1926 in Milwaukee, the son of Leonard and Freda Hegeman, he later moved to Waterford. He is survived by his wife, Sarah; a son, Tim; and daughters Barbara (Dave), Halle and Molly. He is also survived by sisters Carol (Bud) Haas and Lois (Joe) Harry of Waterford; sister-in-law Ronell Hegeman; and many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceeded in death by brothers Leonard (Ronell), Gerry and Richard Hegeman; and son-in-law Scott Kimball. Wally attended St. Mathew’s School and St. Pius XI in Milwaukee. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943, serving in England, France, Switzerland and Germany during World War II. Upon returning home, he took an apprenticeship in Waterford with his father in 1949. Walter and Sarah (nee Curnow) were married May 7, 1949 at St. Thomas Church in Waterford, where they built a home and resided for many years. For 27 years, Walter was considered a Master Builder, building and remodeling homes for Hegeman Builders. He also volunteered work on many youth projects in Waterford. In 1975, the family moved to Boulder Junction, where they purchased The Nick Nack Niche store and also established a woodworking shop, making boxes and furniture. He served St. Anne Church youth as a C.Y.O. teacher. He was also a member of the local Bible Study Group at The Community Church of Boulder Junction. He was a member of Richardson-Michaud American Legion Post 451, of Boulder Junction. Wally especially enjoyed biking around town, visiting friends. Wally was liked and respected by people of all walks of life. Services will be held at noon on Saturday, Nov. 10th at St. Anne Catholic Church, 10314 Main Street. Boulder Junction.
