Mr. David William Vanderleest

Vanderleest, David William, age 73, of Wind Lake, passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side on June 05, 2015. David was born in Racine on May 21, 1942. On May 21, 1976 he married Geri Lynn Hansen in Racine. They moved to Wind Lake which has been home since. David worked as a mechanic for SC Johnson for 35 years and was a member of SC Johnson’s 20 year club. David was a member of Norway Lutheran Church, in the town of Norway. David was known for having a big kind heart and always willing to help others.
David is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 39 years: Geri, two children: Diana and Debra; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one brother: Don (Ing), one sister: Alice Legler; and by other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: William and Evelyn (nee. Wilson) Vanderleest and one brother: Rob.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2015 from 2-4 PM at Norway Lutheran Church, 6321 Heg Park Road, Wind Lake. Services will begin at 4 PM with a luncheon to follow. David’s family suggests memorials to Norway Lutheran Church, the Vince Lombardi Cancer Center, Burlington or Aurora VNA Hospice, Burlington.
David’s family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Haider and staff, and to Aurora VNA Hospice for their help and compassionate care of David.
