Herbert Janke Jr.

Herbert "Herbie" Rhinehardt Janke, Jr., 85 years old, of Waterford, WI passed away Sunday, December 28, 2025. He was born February 13, 1940 to the late Herbert Sr. and Dorothy (Manske) Janke in Milwaukee, WI. Herbert proudly served in the National Guard from 1960 - 1964. On September 26, 1964, he was united in marriage with Sharon Lea Campbell at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Waterford, WI. Herbert worked for Metro Welding and Fabrication in Big Bend, WI and after retiring from there at age 65, he worked 36 hours a week part time for Paul Fickau until the age of 75. He was lovingly known for his whistle and trying to get us lost on long rides when we were kids, Herbie never got lost, he will be remembered for his favorite quote “So Far So Good” from his favorite movie (Magnificent Seven). And he loved to golf, he will also be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and friend.

Survivors include, his wife of 61 years, Sharon Lea Janke; children, LeAnn Marie Janke, Gregory Allen (Carri) Janke, and Dean Richard (Lucia) Janke, Daughter in law Stevie Janke. Grandchildren: Danyelle Smith, Raquel (Nick) Lamb, Miranda (Jackson) Janke, Douglas Janke, Emelie Janke, and Robert Janke. Great-grandchildren, Aubreigh Leona Janke and Eloise Noel Lamb. And he was Uncle, to many nieces, and nephews.

Preceded in death by one son Douglas Janke, and two sisters Bernice (Keith) Anderson and Joan (Donald) Krueger.

Visitation will be held 9AM-10:45AM Saturday, January 10, 2026 at ST. CLARE CATHOLIC CHURCH (7616 Fritz Street Wind Lake WI, 53185), with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11AM.
