Mark Edward Laughran, of Greendale WI passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus and went home on July 21, 2024, with his devoted wife of 48 years at his side.
Mark was born on May 31, 1950, in Burlington, WI and grew up in Rochester WI enjoying the small-town life which at that time had a population of 300 people. He attended Waterford Highschool and graduated with a Bachelor of Business from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. Upon graduation he moved to Milwaukee and was introduced to Anna Marie Morana. They married in 1975 and settled in Greendale where they raised their daughter Dr. Angelina Olkowski. She is married to Pastor John Olkowski, and they have two children named Alaxander and Gianna, making Mark a very devoted father, father-in-law and proud grandpa.
In addition to being an avid reader of history, Mark had a variety of interests and hobbies. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, studying the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright, hanging out with his McDonald's buddies, having a meal and/or coffee with friends, and helping people. His favorite job was at Walter's Foods in New Berlin where he was Vice President of Sales 1975-1988, leaving to start Upgrade Professional Services dba APPS Paramedical Services, and with the help of his wife and daughter grew it to cover the State of Wisconsin. He sold it in 2015, and it is now called APPS Portamedic. Mark continued to work another business he had started called ASAP DNA, specializing and helping both immigrants enter our country legally and adoption agencies place babies in loving homes.
He will be fondly and lovingly missed by his seven siblings. Mark enjoyed being a brother to: Kathy (Tom) Trimberger of Burlington, Mick (Deb) Laughran of Tennessee, (Mark was #3), Patrick (Reena) Laughran of New Zealand, David (Nancy) Laughran of Rochester, Jerry Laughran of Burlington, Mary (Jerry) Itzenheiser of Waterford, and Julie (Bill) Batchelor of Burlington. He is also Uncle Mark to many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. It's impossible to name all the people Mark's sense of humor touched. He loved God, his country, family, friends, neighbors, striving to provide a laugh and smile whenever he could. And if you like coffee, history, or were left-handed you were instantly part of his inner circle. Mark was sadly preceded in death by his WWI hero grandfather Nick Laughran, parents Peter and Hazel (nee Kaskin), in-laws Angelo and Josephine (nee Balistreri), nephew Gregory Trimberger, and good friend Kent Baumann.
Memorial visitation will be held 10AM-11AM Saturday, August 17, 2024 at COMMUNITY CHURCH (455 S. Jefferson Street, Waterford, WI 53185), with a memorial service to follow at 11AM.
