Pauline (Polly) Marie Eastberg (nee Stolz) passed away peacefully at Arbor View Assisted Living in Burlington, WI on Friday, September 25th at the age of 82. Polly was born on January 18, 1944 at Lutheran Hospital of Milwaukee, the second of six children, to her parents Reverend E. Helmuth and Hazel (nee Smith) Stolz. Polly grew up at the parsonage at her father’s church, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. As a young girl, she grew to love and serve the Lord by attending VBS, Sunday school classes, youth group activities, singing in the junior choir and listening and learning from her father’s inspirational sermons.
Through Polly’s high school years at West Division High School, she was a featured editor of the school newspaper “The Comet,” vice president of the FTA (Future Teachers of America), played the clarinet in the band and orchestra, student announcer over the PA system, cheerleader, Latin and Biology Club member, All State Modern Dance Queen and Senior Prom Queen. She graduated in 1962.
A shining moment for Polly in 1960 was being crowned the Teen Queen of Wisconsin at Milwaukee Auditorium.
While in the high school marching band, Polly met her future husband and soulmate, James F. Eastberg of whom she was united in holy matrimony by her father on October 11, 1964 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. After they married, they settled in Milwaukee. Soon after, they welcomed their son Mark and a few years later Tricia. They lived in Menasha, Milwaukee, Waukesha and Caledonia. Jim and Polly took great pride in the house they built in Mukwonago and lived there over 25 years.
Polly served as a pastor’s daughter in church and continued to serve the Lord all of her life. Her dedication included singing in the church choir, junior choir director, ELCA Women of the Church Committee, Altar Guild, Sunday school teacher, VBS superintendent, started the Prayer Partners Program and used her creativity to decorate the church lobby for each church season and also planned various fundraising events.
Polly went to cosmetology school at MATC and earned her degree. During her career, she worked at Edwards in Milwaukee, Judy’s Hairstyle Salon in Mukwonago and started her own salon in Linden Ridge Assisted Living also in Mukwonago.
In her free time, Polly enjoyed doing crafts, cooking, baking, cake decorating, oil painting, writing, and working in the garden. Her greatest passion was spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. Her three grandchildren were the light of her world. She cherished every moment with them.
Polly is survived by her loving children Mark (Cindy) Eastberg, Rochester WI, Tricia (Raymond) Monzel, Lindenhurst IL, and mother-in-law to Monica Johnson. Polly is also survived by three adoring grandchildren, Adrianna (Jacob) Lyons Toledo OH, Breann Monzel Lindenhurst IL, and Paige (Logan Bland) Eastberg Columbus OH. She is further survived by siblings, Eileen (Marty) Harrison, Philip (Suzanne) Stolz, and Jonathan (Deb) Stolz and Brother In Law Rich Mastroiani, Sister In Law Diana Smurawa, her Godchildren John (Jodi) Eastberg, Carrie (Rob) Anderson, and Kendall (Jessica) Harrison as well as other family and friends.
