Roger was born on Sept 4, 1951 to Emil and Violet (Rekoske) Hrejsa in Milwaukee, WI. He grew up next to Groppi’s Market in a small 3- bedroom 1-bathroom home with his parents & 5 rambunctious sisters. Space was limited & noise was at a premium. As the only boy in the family, it was hard to get a word in edgewise. Perhaps that is why Roger was such a mellow, agreeable, kind-hearted man. 

Roger spent most of his adult life in Illinois. It was there that he met & married Susan Andresen in March 1975. They were married for 8 years & did not have any children. He worked for John Deere for 30+ years as a machinist and forklift operator. He was dependable, hard-working and got things done. When he wasn’t working, Roger enjoyed golf, fishing, & watching old classic movies. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears & had many football collectibles, as well as beer steins, wooden carvings & movies. 

In 2016, Roger moved back to Wisconsin to reconnect with his extended family. He enjoyed family gatherings & had no problem falling asleep in the midst of kids, chaos & spirited celebrations. We will miss his smile, his thick mop of white hair, great sense of humor, easy-going nature & kind-heart. 

Roger is survived by his sisters, Nancy Meronk, Joyce (Bob) Wojciechowski & Barbara Terrell. Nieces & nephews Robert & Jeff Simmons, Lori (Doug) Johnston, Michael (Jeannie) Meronk, Michelle Meronk, Angela (Dale) Butenhof, Nichole (Jason) Rumohr, Shawn & Aubrey Terrell, as well as many other step & grandnieces & nephews. 

Roger is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Violet McCoy and Sandra Grant and brother-in-laws Gary Grant & Ron Meronk. 

Visitation will be held 10AM-10:45AM Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at MEALY-STENCEL FUNERAL HOME (225 W. Main St. Waterford, WI 53185), with a funeral service to follow at 11AM.
